1.9: Statistics
Session Statistics - More accurate than a standard web-log report, the tracking of sessions gives an accurate view of the users actions on a website. Sessions allow for a true indication of the number of unique users to a site, and can follow exactly which pages they view as they browse the content. Problem areas of the site can be easily identified and fixed, and all changes made can be evaluated by examining the statistics before and after the change. (e.g. If most users leave the site from a particular page, there can be more incentives placed on that page to encourage users to stay.)
Referrer Statistics - By capturing the referring websites for any hits to a site, the administrators can determine what external sites are bringing visitors. Use of search engine listings, link exchanges and banner advert marketing can be evaluated by examining the referring pages. Search engine referrals can also be examined for the common words used to find a site.
Search Term Statistics - A list of search terms used, with the number of times for each, as well as the pages clicked to from the results are available for examination. Search terms used that gave no results can be highlighted to determine common words that might need results (either adding words to the meta data for some pages, or adding new content). Common misspelling of search terms that give no results can lead to building a synonym database, which allows a search term to match other words in its synonym list.
